When it comes to local gambling, Czechia hast the most casinos, associated with the European Casino Association as of 2017, followed by France and Great Britain. In terms of casino GGR however, France is by far the most ahead, with roughly 2.3 billion euros. Britain generated 1.6 billion and Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands had a casino GGR between 600 and 700 million euros. The figures directly correlate with the number of casino visits across European countries. Employment wise, it is worth noting though that Great Britain has more full-time employees in the casino industry than France.
Online gambling activities appear to increase. The number of online player accounts in France have doubled in recent years and the number of new online accounts in Great Britain have even quadrupled. The increasing number of online gamblers in the Netherlands as well as the growing revenue from online gambling and betting services in Spain also reflect the market growth of remote gambling in Europe.
